If you have not registered with USMS for 2023, or if you wish to register for a different club, please register with USMS beginning Nov 1st 2022 and then enter this meet.  If you are planning to swim relays, all swimmers on the relay must be registered with the same USMS club.  Once  you have registered for 2023 after Nov 1st, the registration is effective immediately and if you registered for a new club, that is now your club.

The 2023 Founders Meet at Pabst Farms YMCA
SHORT COURSE YARDS SWIM MEET SUNDAY, JANUARY 22, 2023

SPONSORED BY:	Wisconsin Masters Aquatic Club
LOCATION:	YMCA at PABST FARMS 1750 Valley Road, Oconomowoc, WI 53066
FACILITIES:	8 lane, 25-yard pool with anti-turbulent lane guides, starting blocks and backstroke flags. The length of the competition course without a bulkhead is in compliance and on file with USMS in accordance with articles 105.1.7 and 106.2.1.
COVID Protocols	All protocols in place at the time of the meet will be followed. At the time this sanction was submitted, there were no state, local or YMCA protocols. Check the Wisconsin Master’s website (https://www.wisconsinmastersswimming.com) to determine if COVID protocols have been implemented. If protocols are in place, swimmers, spectators or meet officials that cannot or do not conform to the protocols will not be allowed at the meet. There are no refunds of entry fees.
TIME:	NOTE TIME CHANGE FROM PRIOR YEARS. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, doors open at 9:00 A.M. There is no access to the YMCA before 9:00 A.M. Warm-up 9:15 A.M.to 9:50 A.M. Meet starts at 10:00 A.M.
ELIGIBILITY:	Open to all swimmers 18 years and over as of Sunday, January 22, 2023. Because this is a USMS sanctioned event, current USMS or FINA membership is required for insurance reasons. There are two membership options: Current USMS membership. One Event membership. Online entry is required for One Event memberships. Times swum under one-event registration are not eligible for USMS Top 10 or records consideration. One Event memberships are not eligible for USMS or Wisconsin records, relays, All-American consideration or All-Star consideration. A one event membership can be converted to USMS membership within 30 days of the meet.
RULES:	Official USMS Masters Rules will govern this meet. All events will be timed finals.
DECK ENTRIES	Deck entries are not allowed.
AUTOMATIC SPLIT RECORDING:	Automatic split recording (USMS Rule 103.18.2 A and B) will be performed by the officials for relay lead-off provided the split time is available from the automatic (primary) timing system. Other splits must be requested in writing by the swimmer as per USMS rules noted on the USMS Split Notification Form.
SEEDING:	Heats will be computer seeded, slowest to fastest except the 1000 will be seeded fastest to slowest. Please submit a reasonably accurate seed time. A NO TIME will be seeded in the slowest heat. Age groups and sexes will be combined.
TIMING:	Primary: Automatic timing system (Colorado), Secondary: Semi-automatic with one button, Tertiary: one watch. Note: The timing system precision qualifies as appropriate for setting USMS Records, and Top 10 Consideration (103.18.5).
WARM UP:	Swimmers must enter the pool feet first in a cautious manner. Lanes 1-6 are circle swimming only -- NO DIVING STARTS are permitted from blocks or deck in these lanes. Lane 7 and 8 are the designated start/sprint lanes when announced. Swimming one direction only, exiting to the side or end. Hand paddles, kick-boards, fins, etc. may not be used at any time during the warm up period. Lane 8 will be the designated lane for warm up/warm down during the meet. No jumping, diving or socializing in warm up lane while the meet is in progress.
ENTRY FEE:	USMS Members $18.00 plus $6.00 per individual event. One Event members $33.00 plus $6.00 per individual event. There are no refunds of entry fees.
ENTRY LIMIT:	Six (6) individual events plus relays. THE 1000 FREESTYLE IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 14 ENTRIES RECEIVED. Each swimmer swimming the 1000 Freestyle is responsible for providing a lap counter. positive check in for the 1000 is required by the start of event 10, the 200 Freestyle relay. WAITLIST for 1000: If the 1000 is filled, you may e-mail the Meet Director and request to be placed on a waitlist. You must enter an alternate event that you will drop if you get to swim the 1000 on the day of the meet.
Online Entry	Enter On-Line via Club Assistant (see https://www.wisconsinmastersswimming.com for link) OR via US Mail with the Wisconsin Masters Swimming Universal Entry Form, one athlete per form. On-line entry is preferred. Entries open on Dec. 10, 2022. The On-Line meet entry deadline for the meet is Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 11:59 PM CST time. NO EMAIL, DECK OR LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
PAPER ENTRY DEADLINE:	Paper entries via US Mail with the Wisconsin Masters Swimming Universal Entry Form, one athlete per form. Mail entries must include a copy of the swimmer’s USMS registration card. The LIABILITY RELEASE page must be signed without any alterations. Paper entries must be in Mike Murray’s hands no later than 6:00PM, Saturday Jan. 14, 2023. Fees must accompany the entry form. Checks made payable to WMAC.
AWARDS:	Ribbons for 1st through 3rd places.

(1) Non-Conforming Event and not eligible for USMS Top 10, USMS or WI records, All American or All-Star consideration. (2) At the blocks swimmers will be given the order of strokes to be swum. The order will vary from lane to lane and will not be in the traditional (Fly, Back, Breast, Free) order. (3) Submit relay entries at the meet. Relays may be all men, all women or two men and two women. Competitors may swim only once in each relay event. All swimmers in a relay must be registered with the same club. (4) The 325 yard Crescendo Relay is a Non-Conforming Event and is not eligible for USMS Top 10, USMS or WI records, All American or All-Star consideration. Swimmers will swim the legs in this order: 150 Yards, 100 Yards, 50 Yards and 25 Yards. The meet director reserves the right to enter swimmers into this relay.

Directions to the YMCA at Pabst Farms: Oconomowoc is located midway between Milwaukee and Madison, adjacent to and north of I-94. Exit I-94 on State Hwy 67, go north 2 blocks to Valley Road, turn east (right) on Valley Road, the Y will be about one mile east on Valley Road. When entering the YMCA early on the morning of the meet, please use the entrance on the West side of the building, as the main entrance does not open until 10:00 A.M. on Sunday.

Post Meet: Following the meet, plan on stopping for lunch at the Delafield Brewhaus (262-646-7821). To get there, turn left when leaving the Y, then go east about ½ mile to Hwy P (Sawyer Rd.) turn South (right) to I-94, and take I-94 east 3 miles to the Delafield Hwy 83 exit. Go south (right) two short blocks and turn east (left) on Hillside Drive; meander one mile past the Home Depot, the Brewhaus is on the right. Good eating and excellent Masters socializing!

Why is this the Founders Meet
The Founder’s Meet is intended to recognize the people that were instrumental in Wisconsin Masters Swimming. The 2022 inductees were to be the few people that were still with us, those were Ingrid Stine, Dick Pitman and John Bauman. Unfortunately, Ingrid and Dick passed away in 2022 and were not aware of this recognition. Following is a brief summary of their contributions to Wisconsin Masters Swimming.
