SOUTHEASTERN LMSC CLINIC
AUBURN UNIVERSITY
AUBURN, ALABAMA, MAY 20, 2017

Sanctioned by Southeastern Masters Swimming for United States Masters Swimming, Inc.

SPONSORED BY:  Southeastern LMSC.  Local Organizer:  Conner Bailey.  Phone:  334.332.1955. Email: cbailey@ag.auburn.edu.

THE CLINIC:  Southeastern LMSC is sponsoring a clinic for both competitive and fitness swimmers who want to improve stroke technique.  Swimmers will be divided into five groups and rotate through sessions for each stroke plus one session devoted to starts and turns.  In addition, we will have two short presentations, one on the proper use of swim gear (e.g., fins, paddles and buoys) and another on dry-land exercises designed to increase flexibility and prevent injury.  See below for a detailed program and brief biographical sketches of the coaches who will work with us.

ELIGIBILITY:   All swimmers must be registered for 2017 with United States Masters Swimming, Inc.  Participation is limited to the first 100 swimmers currently registered within the Southeastern LMSC.  If space permits, currently registered USMS swimmers from other LMSCs may participate in the clinic (see “Registration,” below).

ENTRY FEE:  There is no charge to swimmers registered with Southeastern LMSC.  In the event that space allows swimmers from other LMSCs to attend, we request a donation of $15.00 to cover the cost of the provided lunch. In the case of credit card payments, note that your credit card will be billed by ClubAssistant.com Events.

REGISTRATION:  Online registration only through ClubAssistant.
Registration is limited to swimmers registered within Southeastern LMSC up to noon Central Daylight Savings Time on Friday, May 12, 2017.  At that point we will open registration to any USMS registered swimmer up to the point where the limit of 100 swimmers has been reached.  Entries close on Friday, May 19th at noon Central Daylight Savings Time.

CANCELLATIONS AND NO-SHOWS:  If after you have registered for this clinic your plans change, please notify Conner Bailey (cbailey@ag.auburn.edu) as soon as possible so that other swimmers may have the opportunity to participate, and so that we can order the right number of lunches for participants.  Even if you must cancel at the last minute, please let Conner know.

FACILITY:   The James E. Martin Aquatics Center http://aquatics.auburn.edu/ on the campus of Auburn University.  Weather permitting, we will use both the indoor competition and outdoor 50 meter training pools as well as the classroom at the Aquatics Center.

DIRECTIONS TO POOL:  Approaching Auburn via I-85 from either North or South, take Exit 51 (Hwy 29, also known as South College St.).  Follow South College approximately 3 miles until you reach the Auburn University campus, on your left.  Turn left on Samford Street and follow approximately 1 mile to Donahue.  Turn right at Donahue and then left at first street (Biggio).  You will see the old Coliseum, a large oval structure.  The pool is immediately to the west of the Coliseum.  Campus map at:  www.auburn.edu/its/ducapps/aumap/main.html.  If you are coming to Auburn from the northwest via U.S. Hwy 280, turn right at Alabama Hwy 147 (which becomes North College St.) Follow for approximately 5 miles.  Campus will be on your right immediately after downtown.  Turn right at Samford Street, just after the Heart of Auburn Motel and just as you are leaving campus.  From there, follow directions above.

PARKING:  The best parking is immediately to the east of the old Coliseum.  Short 2 minute walk to the pool.

DINING OPTIONS IN AUBURN:  We have scheduled the day’s events so that most people can drive to and from Auburn on the same day.  We will provide a lunch during the day.  You may be hungry after the clinic and want to get something to eat before leaving town, and we have some very good options.
