Instructors: Scott Bay and Mel Goldstein
Mel Goldstein was the 2001 Speedo US Masters Coach of the year, Mel won the 1997 Ransom J. Arthur MD Award that goes annually to a person who best supports the objectives of Masters swimming. It is the highest honor bestowed by United States Masters Swimming. He is a past President of USMS and a USMS All American with 255 Individual Top Ten Achievements. In 2012, he was inducted into the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame.
Scott Bay is an ASCA Level 5 Certified Coach and has been actively coaching for over 20 years. High School swimmers he has coached have gone to state meets and placed in the top ten on numerous occasions and Masters swimmers he currently coaches include National Champions, All Americans, and World Record Holders who have swam to over 300 top ten USMS swims in just the last 5 years.
Throughout a career that includes teaching swim lessons, coaching Age Groupers and Senior Swimmers, as well as adults, Bay has taught literally thousands how to swim or how to swim better. He has also written numerous articles on technique and coaching for both websites and publications in addition to being a major contributor to the revised USMS/ASCA certification curriculum and presents at clinics across the country including the ASCA World Clinic for several years now.
Coach Bay is also the Chair of the USMS Coaches Committee, Florida LMSC Chair, and the Head Coach of Father Lopez Catholic High School Men’s and Women’s Swimming.
Prerequisites: You must have completed Levels 1&2 of the USMS Masters coach certification program and be a current USMS Member to participate in the course. You must be a certified Level 2 Masters coach and a member of ASCA to receive Level 3 certification. Level 2 and Level 3 cannot be taken during the same weekend. ASCA and USMS Membership information is provided on the application for this clinic. ASCA Membership fee is $70 for one year. More information about ASCA may be found here: www.swimmingcoach.org
Upon successful completion of the certification process, including all required memberships, applications and completed tests: Each person will be awarded a USMS/ASCA Level 3 Coaches Certification certificate.
Fees: $225 for Level 3 Course.
Maximum: Maximum attendance is 25.
Who should attend? Current full-time, part-time or volunteer coaches who would like to explore the possibilities of coaching Masters swimmers as a profession. Anyone interested in supporting their existing team and coach. Anyone interested in starting a Masters Program.
Scholarships: Coaches should consult with their LMSCs for scholarship information.

Meals
Participants will be given a $10 breakfast voucher and a $15 lunch voucher redeemable at any restaurant within the hotel. The vouchers will be distributed at check-in for the event.

Coach certification registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled course, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to clubandcoach@usmastersswimming.org
