Candidates for the USMS Masters coach level 4 certification must register and submit the Masters coach level 4 application - with supporting documents - to a designated review panel. Successful candidates qualify for the level 4 designation based on the criteria set forth by the USMS Coaches Committee. The body of work is scored on a point system in the areas of leadership, contributions, education, achievement, growth and retention.
Please note: There is no classroom instruction for level 4 certification.
Mandatory Pre-Requisites for Level 4 Certification:
- Must be a current USMS member and a USMS Level 3 Masters Certified Coach
- Must have at least five years of Masters coaching experience
- Must hold current certification for: CPR, First Aid, AED, and Water Safety for Swim Coaches (or a Lifeguard Certificate)
- Must earn a minimum of 650 total points on the application

Application Instructions: You may only submit your application and supporting documentation to
coaches@usms.org between July 1, 2014 and July 15, 2014,11:59 PM. A review panel selected by the USMS coaches committee will review your application and documents and inform you if you've achieved level 4 status. The review panel will notify you if you have any deficiencies in your application. You may submit supporting documents for the deficiencies prior to August 15, 2014. Level 4 certification will be awarded to successful candidates during the 2014 USAS convention in Jacksonville, Florida September 18-21, 2014.
Fee: The application fee is $50. Recognized USMS Masters coaches receive a $10 discount.
