Instructors: Elizabeth Moore, Mel Goldstein and Bill Brenner
Elizabeth Moore is a USMS Level 3 certified Masters coach. She is the founder and head coach of the Masters Swimming Program at Spectrum Athletic Clubs South Bay in El Segundo, CA. A former NCAA Division I swimmer and NAIA Division I cross-country and track and field competitor, Elizabeth combined her passions for swimming and running to become a multisport athlete. She races all triathlon distances and has completed three full IRONMAN races where she excels on the swim, exiting the water with top place finishes. Elizabeth also competes and coaches at Masters swim meets and open water races throughout the year.
Mel Goldstein was the 2001 Speedo US Masters Coach of the year, Mel won the 1997 Ransom J. Arthur MD Award that goes annually to a person who best supports the objectives of Masters swimming. It is the highest honor bestowed by United States Masters Swimming. He is a past President of USMS and a USMS All American with 255 Individual Top Ten Achievements. In 2012, he was inducted into the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame.
Bill Brenner is the Education Director for USMS. He has 30 years coaching experience working with age group, college and Masters swimmers. Bill has served as a support team member for his local Masters club, team representative to the LMSC, an LMSC officer as the Top Ten Recorder, a multi-year delegate to the USAS convention and a member of national committees. He has served as the meet director for multiple events, helped organize the 2013 Pan American Masters championship and hosted the 2014 YMCA Masters national championship in Sarasota, Fla.. A USMS Level 4 certified Masters coach, he enjoys attracting adult athletes to the sport of swimming and coaching all levels of ability.
Prerequisites: You must be a current USMS Member to participate in the course and receive USMS certification.
Certification Process: Upon successful completion of the classroom coursework, including all required applications and successfully completed tests, each person will be awarded USMS Level 1 or 2 Certified Masters Coach certification.
Fees: $180 for Levels 1 and 2 Certification. $100 for Level 1 or Level 2 only. Recognized coaches receive a $10 discount on certifications, i.e. $160 for Levels 1 and 2 Certification. $90 for Level 1 or Level 2 only. View the benefits of becoming a recognized coach.
Maximum: Maximum attendance is 40.
Who should attend? Current full-time, part-time, volunteer coaches or anyone interested in becoming a Masters coach. Anyone interested in starting or supporting a Masters program.
Scholarships:
South Texas LMSC will be offering ten (10) scholarships up to $100.00 each to qualified South Texas LMSC members. Interested ST LMSC members must contact Stchair@usms.org to be considered for a scholarship. The first ten (10) ST members to contact the chair will be considered for a scholarship. ST member must provide proof of course completion to receive scholarship.

Coach certification registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled course, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to clubandcoach@usmastersswimming.org
