Instructors: Dave Burgess, Mel Goldstein and Bill Brenner

Dave Burgess is a USMS level 3 certified coach, a USAT level 2, and USAC level 2 certified coach.  He has been involved in the triathlon and endurance sports community since 2000 and began coaching in 2009. Dave also has a certificate in Sports and Performance Nutrition.  As the founder and head coach of Podium Training Systems, Dave works with athletes of all levels – from first time competitors to elite level athletes – competing in all race distances. Dave is also the founder and head coach of the Podium Swim Club in Colorado Springs, where triathletes and swimmers alike progress towards maximum performance via technique, mechanics, and performance-based training.  Dave has presented webinars, and written, articles on open water swimming, stroke mechanics and video analysis for both the athlete and coach.  He also assists fellow coaches with athlete swim stroke mechanics, stroke analysis, and overall training prescriptions.  Dave comes from strong swimming background, competing as a youth through collegiate level competition. Originally from the Midwest, and after spending time in Chicago and New York, he and his wife now reside in Colorado Springs.

Bill Brenner is the Education Director for USMS. He has 30 years coaching experience working with age group, college and Masters swimmers. Bill has served as a support team member for his local Masters club, team representative to the LMSC, an LMSC officer as the Top Ten Recorder, a multi-year delegate to the USAS convention and a member of national committees. He has served as the meet director for multiple events, helped organize the 2013 Pan American Masters championship and hosted the 2014 and 2015 YMCA Masters national championship in Sarasota, Fla.. A USMS Level 4 certified Masters coach, he enjoys attracting adult athletes to the sport of swimming and coaching all levels of ability.

Prerequisites
You must be a current USMS Member to participate in the course and receive USMS certification.

Certification Process
Upon successful completion of the classroom coursework, including all required applications and successfully completed tests, each person will be awarded USMS Level 1 or 2 Certified Masters Coach certification.

Fees
$180 for Levels 1 and 2 Certification. $100 for Level 1 or Level 2 only.

Maximum
Maximum attendance is 40.

Who should attend? Current full-time, part-time, volunteer coaches or anyone interested in becoming a Masters coach.  Anyone interested in starting or supporting a Masters program.

Scholarships
The Oklahoma LMSC is providing a limited number of $90.00 scholarships for Oklahoma coaches to attend level 1 & 2 coach  certification.  If you  are interested in applying for a scholarship, please contact leedewey@cox.net.

There will also be a USMS Stroke Development Clinic offered on Sunday, September 27 from 10 am to 12 pm.  All coaches from the certification class are welcome to participate as a coach on deck at no charge. Swimmers may also register to attend. 

Online Registration
Online registration only. Registration closes at midnight Pacific time on Friday, September 25, 2015 or when the course enrollment reaches 40.

Online Registration is Paid by Credit Card
Your online registration for this course will be paid by credit card and processed by Club Assistant. Please look for "ClubAssistant.com Events" on your credit card statement.

Lodging
USMS has secured a special rate of $99.00 for guest accommodations at the Fairfield Inn and Suites for Friday, September 25, 2015.  The cutoff date to make hotel reservations at this special rate is 8/26/2015.

Coach certification registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled course, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to clubandcoach@usmastersswimming.org
