U.S. Masters Swimming is hosting a USMS levels 1&2 Masters coach certification course on Saturday, January 23, 2016.

Instructors: Chad Durieux and Bill Brenner

Chad Durieux is the head Masters coach of Rose Bowl Aquatics in Pasadena, CA., a title he has held for 7 years. Chad has a total of 9 years experience coaching Masters, and 10 years with age group teams in Canada and at the RBAC. He is the 2011 USMS Coach of the year and the 2010 SPMS Coach of the year. Chad is a USMS level 4 certified Masters coach and CSCTA (Canadian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association) Level 3 tech/theory certified.

Bill Brenner is the Interim C.E.O.and Education Director of USMS. He has 30 years coaching experience working with age group, college and Masters swimmers. Bill has served as a support team member for his local Masters club, team representative to the LMSC, an LMSC officer as the Top Ten Recorder, a multi-year delegate to the USAS convention and a member of national committees. He has served as the meet director for multiple events, helped organize the 2013 Pan American Masters championship and hosted the 2014 and 2015 YMCA Masters national championship in Sarasota, Fla.. A USMS Level 4 certified Masters coach, he enjoys attracting adult athletes to the sport of swimming and coaching all levels of ability.

Prerequisites
You must be a current USMS Member to participate in the course and receive USMS certification.

Certification Process
Upon successful completion of the classroom coursework, including all required applications and successfully completed tests, each person will be awarded USMS Level 1 or 2 Certified Masters Coach certification.

Fees
$180 for Levels 1 and 2 Certification. $100 for Level 1 or Level 2 only.

Maximum
Maximum attendance is 40.

Who should attend?
Current full-time, part-time, volunteer coaches or anyone interested in becoming a Masters coach.  Anyone interested in starting or supporting a Masters program.

Scholarships
The San Diego - Imperial LMSC is offering coach certification scholarship assistance for coaches from the SI LMSC who successfully complete either levels 1 and/or level 2 coach certification class. The scholarship rebates will range from 10% - 20% to be determined by the LMSC upon review and will be distributed post event.  If you need more specific information or have any questions, please contact the SI LMSC SIChair@usms.org. Coaches must reside in San Diego or Imperial counties.

Coach certification registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled course, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to clubandcoach@usmastersswimming.org
