Instructor Certification Adult Learn to Swim
U.S. Masters Swimming is hosting a USMS ALTS instructor certification course on Feb. 20, 2016, in Phoenix, Ariz.
Saturday, Feb. 20
Check-In: 8-8:30 a.m.
Classroom instruction: 8:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
Lunch: 1 p.m.*
In-water pool instruction: 2-4 p.m.
*Lunch will be provided by USMS - Please note that most of the lunches are sandwich based and do not always include a vegetarian option or recognize dietary restrictions and food allergies. If you have food restrictions, please feel free to bring along something that will accommodate your needs.

Instructor
Gloria Waggoner is a USMS Adult Learn to Swim certified lead instructor, a USMS Level 3 Masters coach, and an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. She has taught and coached swimming to people of all ages and ability levels.
Gloria was an age-group swimmer, and in her teens was a member of Olympic Coach Peter Daland's Los Angeles Athletic Club women's team. Gloria rekindled her passion for competitive swimming in 2001 when she began training for triathlons. In 2004, Gloria joined a community board to fund, design and build the Kroc Community Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. When the facility was finished, Gloria accepted a position as the Kroc Program Director. She provided leadership in developing innovative aquatic programs for community members of all ages, including Learn to Swim, Third Grade Swim and the USMS Kroc Masters team. She has placed at USMS Open Water and Short Course National Championship events, and earned Top 10 rankings and an All American relay award. In 2014, the Kroc Center honored Gloria as the first member of the Kroc Aquatic Hall of Fame.
ALTS Prerequisites
You must be a current USMS member to participate in the course and receive USMS ALTS Instructor certification. You must be able to perform the following five water-competency skills:
ALTS certification course registrations are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Questions, please email Holly Neumann at holly.neumann@usms.org.
