ALTS Instructor Certification - beta class

USMS is hosting several ALTS certification beta test classes on various dates, in select cities, throught the US. Attendance is by invitation only.

Location of classsroom and pool instruction will vary based on city location.  Please refer to the invitation you received for event details.

ALTS Prerequisites: You must be a current USMS member to participate in the course and receive USMS ALTS certification. You must be able to perform the following 5 water competency skills and you will need to perform each of these skills at the conclusion of the class.

• Step or jump into the water over your head.
• Return to the surface and float or tread water for one minute.
• Turn around in a full circle and find an exit.
• Swim 25 yards to the exit.
• Exit from the water. If in a pool, you must be able to exit without the use of a ladder.

Certification Process: Upon successful completion of the classroom coursework and the in-water instruction, including all successfully completed tests, each person will be awarded USMS ALTS Certified Instructor certification.

Fees: $100 per registration for this special beta test class.  Normally, the fee for this class is $300 per student. Your ALTS instructor certification is valid until Dec. 31, 2016, and can be renewed by paying a $30 USMS-Certified ALTS instructor designation fee when updating your USMS membership each year.  USMS provides references and support for active member instructors only.

Your online registration for this course will be paid by credit card and processed by Club Assistant. Please look for "ClubAssistant.com Events" on your credit card statement.

ALTS certification course registrations are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location.  If you transfer your registration to a course at a future date, you will be responsible for paying the difference in registration fee for the class you are attending.  Questions, please email Holly Neumann holly.neumann@usms.org .
