USMS Stroke Development and Improvement Clinic for Swimmers - Worcester, Mass.

The New England LMSC is sponsoring a USMS stroke development and improvement clinic for swimmers of all abilities. All four strokes will be evaluated and corrected with the use of drills and coach instruction. Several of the top coaches in the Boston area will be on hand, along with mentor coaches Mel Goldstein and Bill Brenner, to help you improve your technique and teach you drills that will enable you to continue to refine your stroke. Swimmers are not required to swim all strokes and may work on only those strokes they choose.

Mentor Coaches

Mel Goldstein was the 2001 Speedo US Masters Coach of the year, Mel won the 1997 Ransom J. Arthur MD Award that goes annually to a person who best supports the objectives of Masters swimming. It is the highest honor bestowed by United States Masters Swimming. He is a past President of USMS and a USMS All American with 255 Individual Top Ten Achievements. In 2012, he was inducted into the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame.

Bill Brenner is the Education Director for USMS. He has 30+ years coaching experience working with age group, college and Masters swimmers. Bill has served as a support team member for his local Masters club, team representative to the LMSC, an LMSC officer as the Top Ten Recorder, a multi-year delegate to the USAS convention and a member of national committees. He has served as the meet director for multiple events, helped organize the 2013 Pan American Masters championship and hosted the 2014, 2015 and 2016 YMCA Masters national championship in Sarasota, Fla.. A USMS Level 4 certified Masters coach, he enjoys attracting adult athletes to the sport of swimming and coaching all levels of ability. On average, Bill presents 25 USMS stroke development clinics per year throught the U.S.

GPS directions for Park Avenue Parking Garage at WPI, 161 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA:

From I-290 Eastbound: Take Exit 17 (sign says Route 9), go up the exit ramp, take a left onto Belmont Street. Go 1/4 of a mile straight through Lincoln Square. Belmont Street becomes Highland Street. Turn right onto Grove Street and follow to first light. Take left onto Salisbury Street. WPI Park Avenue Parking Garage entrance is up on the left.

From I-290 Westbound: Take Exit 18 (sign says Route 9), go down the exit ramp. Take a right onto Lincoln Street, then an immediate right onto Concord Street. At second light, Concord Street becomes Salisbury Street. WPI Park Avenue Parking Garage entrance is up on the left.

Schedule:
Registration: 8:30 am- 9:00 a.m.
Swim Clinic: 9:00 am- 12:00 p.m.

Equipment: Please bring your fins, suit, goggles and a towel. If you have hand paddles, and a snorkel, please bring them too.

Online Registration:
Online registration only. Registration closes at midnight pacific time on Saturday, June 4, 2016 or when the clinic enrollment reaches 40.

Cancellation Policy

Coach certification registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled course, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to clubandcoach@usmastersswimming.org
