Instructors: Dominic Latella and Lisa L. Brown
Dominic Latella is the owner and Head Instructor of SwimBox, an endless pool facility that services swimmers in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Northern VA, and MD. Coach Latella works with physical therapists, strength & conditioning coaches, & sports medicine doctors to give the safest and most well rounded swim lessons to his clients. He has over a decade of experience training Masters swimmers nationally and abroad and is a Level 4 USMS Certified Coach. He also works in swimming rehabilitation of Paralympic Military athletes in Washington, D.C. at Walter Reed. Coach Latella focuses on execution of appropriate swimming technique to achieve not only improved efficiency and propulsion, but also to prevent injury. His philosophy emphasizes proper technique so that a swimmer may attain one’s best time while optimizing performance for a lifetime of swimming.
Lisa L. Brown is founder and head coach of Zionsville Aquatic Masters and Aquatics Director of Zionsville Aquatic Center in Indiana. Lisa is a Lifeguard Instructor Trainer for the American Red Cross and Certified Pool Operator. Each year, Lisa coordinates free adult swim lessons through Swimming Saves Lives Foundation for adults in the Zionsville area. Lisa is an accomplished and experienced competitive swimmer, including multiple open water swims such as, National Cable and open water championships, Big Shoulders 5k and Manhattan Beach Pier-to-Pier, as well as 25K and 10K USMS National Championship swims. Lisa’s corporate background includes several certifications in training and business development. Now she applies that corporate experience to helping fellow swimmers achieve their fitness and competitive goals. Lisa is also a lead USMS-certified Adult Learn to Swim instructor and USMS level 3 certified coach.
Prerequisites
Coach certification registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled course, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to clubandcoach@usmastersswimming.org
