U.S. Masters Swimming is hosting a USMS Level 3 Masters coach certification course on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL.

Instructors: Mel Goldstein and Mike Hamm

Mel Goldstein was the 2001 Speedo US Masters Coach of the year, Mel won the 1997 Ransom J. Arthur MD Award that goes annually to a person who best supports the objectives of Masters swimming. It is the highest honor bestowed by United States Masters Swimming. He is a past President of USMS and a USMS All American with 255 Individual Top Ten Achievements. In 2012, he was inducted into the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame.

Mike Hamm is a USMS ALTS certified lead instructor and USMS certified level 4 Masters coach. He has coached swimming for 47 years, including 22 at the Masters level. A recipient of the Kerry O’Brien Coaches Award, he is currently the head Masters coach at the KROC Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He also owns the Hamm Swim School in Coeur d’Alene, where they specialize in individual instruction for all levels of swimmers. He is an Olympic Trials qualifier, USA All-American and USMS All-American, and he set several NCAA Div. II national records while in college. 

Prerequisites
You must have completed Levels 1&2 of the USMS Masters coach certification program and be a current USMS Member to participate in the course.

Certification Process
Upon successful completion of the certification process, including all required memberships, applications and completed tests: Each person will be awarded a USMS level 3 Certified Masters Coach certificate.

Fees
$225 for Level 3 Course.

Maximum
Maximum attendance is 25.

Who should attend?
Current full-time, part-time or volunteer coaches who would like to explore the possibilities of coaching Masters swimmers as a profession. Anyone interested in supporting their existing team and coach.

Scholarships
The FL LMSC will provide $50 scholarships to FL LMSC coches who successfully complete the coach certification course. Please email FLTreasurer@usms.org upon completion of the course to request the scholarship reimbursement. If you are coming from another LMSC, please contact your LMSC for scholarship availability.

Online registration only. Registration closes at midnight pacific time on Tuesday, September 23, 2018 or when the course enrollment reaches 25.

Coach certification registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled course, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to clubandcoach@usmastersswimming.org
