Instructors: Mike Hamm and Mel Goldstein
Mike Hamm is a USMS ALTS certified lead instructor and USMS certified level 4 Masters coach. He has coached swimming for 47 years, including 22 at the Masters level. A recipient of the Kerry O’Brien Coaches Award, he is currently the head Masters coach at the KROC Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He also owns the Hamm Swim School in Coeur d’Alene, where they specialize in individual instruction for all levels of swimmers. He is an Olympic Trials qualifier, USA All-American and USMS All-American, and he set several NCAA Div. II national records while in college.
Mel Goldstein was the 2001 Speedo US Masters Coach of the year, Mel won the 1997 Ransom J. Arthur MD Award that goes annually to a person who best supports the objectives of Masters swimming. It is the highest honor bestowed by United States Masters Swimming. He is a past President of USMS and a USMS All American with 255 Individual Top Ten Achievements. In 2012, he was inducted into the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame.
Prerequisites
Coach certification registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled course, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to clubandcoach@usmastersswimming.org
