U.S. Masters Swimming is hosting a USMS "How-to put on a clinic" course for coaches on Friday & Saturday, November 1 & 2, 2019 in Salt Lake City, UT.

The USMS Clinic Course for Coaches, offered by USMS Education Services, instructs the Masters coach or adult learn-to-swim instructor how to conceptualize, organize and deliver a stroke development clinic (SDC). The course consists of both a classroom and on-deck component.  The registration for the clinic course is limited to 12 coaches per class. Instructors: Chad Durieux and Mel Goldstein

Chad Durieux is the head Masters coach of Rose Bowl Aquatics in Pasadena, CA., a title he has held for 7 years. Chad has over 10 years experience coaching Masters, and 10 years with age group teams in Canada and at the RBAC. He is the 2011 USMS Coach of the year and the 2010 SPMS Coach of the year. Chad is a USMS level 4 certified Masters coach and CSCTA (Canadian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association) Level 3 tech/theory certified.

Mel Goldstein was the 2001 Speedo US Masters Coach of the year, Mel won the 1997 Ransom J. Arthur MD Award that goes annually to a person who best supports the objectives of Masters swimming. It is the highest honor bestowed by United States Masters Swimming. He is a past President of USMS and a USMS All American with 255 Individual Top Ten Achievements. In 2012, he was inducted into the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame.

Prerequisites
You must be a Masters coach who has successfully completed Level 1, or higher, of the USMS Masters coach certification or be a USMS-certified adult learn-to-swim instructor. Current USMS membership is also required.

Fees
$50.00 per coach. USMS-designated Masters coaches and certified ALTS instructors receive a $10 discount during the online registration process.

Maximum
Maximum attendance is 12 coaches.

Who should attend?
Certified Masters coaches who want to develop the skills and resources necessary to host a successful stroke development clinic. ALTS instructors who want to learn stroke-development drills and techniques to use with advanced-beginner swimmers.

Online Registration
Online registration only. Registration closes at midnight Pacific time on Thursday, October 31, 2019 or when the course enrollment reaches 12.

Cancellation Policy

Clinic course registrations are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled clinic course, you may transfer your registration to a clinic course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to Marianne Groenings: mgroenings@usmastersswimming.org.
