This clinic will teach you the skills to be more comfortable, safer, and faster in open water swimming and triathlon events.
NOTE: This is a Prerequisite Class to attending our FREE Open Water Swim Practices at the ocean starting this Spring. (Every other Thursday & Sunday morning)
POOL OPEN WATER CLASS (POW)
Learn and practice the following open water skills:
* Swimming Technique & pacing differences in a wetsuit
Wetsuit Calibration Test. Learn YOUR optimal pace for open water
* Finding your optimal Cadence (Requires using a Tempo Trainer)
* Turning buoys
* Sighting & Navigation Skills
* Dealing with crowds & drafting techniques
* POW intervals over a loop course with buoys in the pool to develop conditioning & endurance.
POW Class Timeline:
10:00-10:30 Open Water technique, skills, & wetsuit specific concepts presentation
10:30-11:30 Wetsuit Specific Technique Swimming & Test/Calibration Test
11:30-12:00 Open Water Skills Stations including pack swimming/drafting/turning buoys
12:00-12:30 Group POW Intervals to develop conditioning & endurance
12:30-1:00 Wrap-up & Questions

Cold Water Acclimation and Surf Entry Practices (2 options)
These sessions are ideal for athletes attending IRONMAN Oceanside 70.3, LA Tri Series #1, SuperSeal Olympic, or other early season cold water races.
Sat Mar 7 - Huntington Beach. 7am
Sun Mar 29 - Newport Beach. 7am
Regular open water ocean practices begin in April - every other Thursday & Sunday
