PurePactola: A Dam Good Swim

purePactola is an open water swim event, in a deep fresh water reservoir in the Black Hills of South Dakota (near Mt.Rushmore and Rapid City) with 2 distance options: .5 miles and 2.2 miles.  

The .5 distance is along the dam, around a small island, and back to the start.  

The 2.2 distance is across the entire dam, and then back to the start.  

Water temp is expected to be between 72-75 degrees.

Water clarity is usually about 20-30 feet.

There is a wetsuit and a non-wetsuit division.  

Stay in the campground at Pactola (reserveamerica.com) or anywhere in the Black Hills.

Family and friends can watch the swim from visitor parking areas along the dam.  

The swim starts at 8:30 am, with registration starting at 7:00 am, and swimmer safety meeting at 8:00am.  

Picnic and swag after the swim.

$50 entry fee, with required event day membership and waiver with USMS (part of registration process).  PurePactola shirt included with entry fee.
Entry fee payable by credit card to ClubAssistant.com Events. Non-refundable. Non-transferable.

We are raising money to donate to the Johnson Siding Volunteer Fire Dept, to assist them with their Pactola emergency responding.
