2021 Short Course Relay ePostal

GENERAL INFORMATION:
This event is a virtual relay meet designed to build camaraderie and get the competitive juices flowing. All five official relays will be offered in three categories: Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed. Coaches are encouraged to promote this event at their facilities throughout the duration of the ePostal.

Entrants complete a timed swim of the requisite distance and stroke which then becomes a relay split. The cumulative time of the individual splits will be the relay’s final time. Your submitted time determines the final order of finish.

LOCATION:
Any 25-yard pool.

DETAILS:
All registered USMS clubs and athletes may participate in this event. The relay can be swum anytime between June 14 and November 14, 2021, all entries need to be submitted by November 21, 2021.

ELIGIBILITY:
The meet is open to all US Masters Swimmers with valid 2021 registration. International entries must be affiliated with a FINA member federation. Foreign swimmers must verify their FINA Organization membership by submitting an electronic copy of their FINA organization 2021 registration card to the event director, eligibility@virtualaquatics.net by November 21, 2021.

One-Event USMS memberships are not available for this event. USMS swimmers will have their membership verified automatically. Each relay’s swimmers must be affiliated with a Masters club; the club and swimmers must both be registered with the same Local Masters Swimming Committee (LMSC). If there are questions about affiliation, the swimmer’s entry will be rejected.

ENTRIES:
Each athlete may swim in two of the three available events for each relay (Men/Mixed or Women/Mixed). Each athlete may swim up to eight relays total. Online entries will be accepted between the above dates and will close at midnight, Pacific Time, on the last day of entry. This event uses online entries only, no paper entries will be accepted.

RULES:
USMS rules govern this event. Age will be determined by the age of the swimmer on June 14, 2021 except for 18-year-olds, who must be 18 on the day of the event. All swimmers must be electronically registered with USMS for 2021 prior to swimming.

REGISTRATION:
To register for this competition, follow this process:

1. Swimmers register for the event using the “individual registration” page.
2. Coaches and Relay Captains select and register relays using the "relay team registration" page. Enter any place holder for Relay Times, official times will be recorded in the next step.
3. An email from relaymeet2021scy@virtualaquatics.net will be sent to your club’s Results Google Sheet where you will record your splits.

Registration is online on Club Assistant software.

ENTRY FEES:
$8 per swimmer which registers the swimmer, puts her/him on the Meet Roster, and allows him/her to electronically sign the obligatory USMS waiver.
$16 per relay entry. A Relay Captain or Club Relay Coordinator may  select swimmers for each relay, submit relay entries with split times, and pay for the relays.
The swimmer's $8 fee will be processed upon registration while the relay entry fees will be processed after the event closes.
All fees are non-refundable.
Entries must be paid by credit card; we accept Visa, Mastercard, or Discover. Please note that your credit card will reflect a charge from “ClubAssistant.com Events”, our software and merchant account provider.

MEET ROSTER:
A real-time meet roster including name, age, sex, and club will be available on the meet information page. Please verify your information and contact meetroster@virtualaquatics.net for any issues.

TIMING AND SPLITS:
An adult acting as a starter/head timer/referee shall be present at all times during the swim, having no additional responsibilities during the swim other than acting as a timer if necessary. Timing may be done with a stopwatch or electronic timing device. USMS starts and strokes rules apply, but we will be using the honor system. Swim fast. Swim fair. VAST reserves the right to remove any clearly incorrect results.

Split times must be recorded to the one hundredth of a second, the Meet Director will fill each empty decimal place with a 9. For a split submitted with no tenths or hundredths, 0.99 seconds shall be added to the time submitted. Splits will be added automatically by Club Assistant to create the relay entry time. All relay entries will be displayed by USMS Club and will include the relay’s time and splits. Club Relay Coordinators will only be able to view a listing of their own USMS Club’s entries. Splits may be updated through the last day of competition, November 14, 2021.

Sanctioned by Arizona LMSC for United States Masters Swimming, Inc.

RESULTS:
Results for this event will be posted after the race at http://www.virtualaquatics.net/relay-meet/. Times achieved at this competition are ineligible for USMS Top Ten or record consideration.

SCORING:
Relays will be awarded points for first through tenth places as 22-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2, respectively.

AGE GROUPS:
Age for the meet is determined as of July 18, 2021. Age groups for relay events: 18+, 25+, 35+, 45+, 55+, 65+ , 75+, and 85+ determined by the age of the youngest relay member.
