Instructor Certification Adult Learn to Swim
U.S. Masters Swimming is hosting a USMS ALTS instructor certification course on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, in Phoenix, Ariz.
Saturday, Nov. 4
Check-in: 8-8:30 a.m.
Classroom instruction: 8:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
Lunch: 12:30 p.m.*
In-water pool instruction: 2-4 p.m.
*Lunch will be provided by USMS. Please note that most of the lunches are sandwich-based and do not always include a vegetarian option or recognize dietary restrictions and food allergies. If you have food restrictions, please feel free to bring along something that will accommodate your needs.

Instructor
Gloria Waggoner is a USMS adult learn-to-swim lead instructor, USMS level 3 Coach, and an ARC water safety instructor. She has taught and coached people of all ages and ability levels to swim. In her teens, Gloria swam for the Los Angeles Athletic Club and was coached by Olympic Coach Peter Daland. She rekindled her passion for competition in 2001 as a triathlete. In 2004, Gloria joined a community effort to build the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. As the Kroc program director, Gloria guided development of innovative aquatic, fitness and community education programs. Gloria retired in 2014, and was honored as the first member of the Kroc Aquatic Hall of Fame. Gloria is an accomplished USMS national open water and pool swimmer. She swims with Kroc Masters and helps coordinate the Kroc ALTS community swim program.
ALTS Prerequisites
You must be a current USMS member to participate in the course and receive USMS ALTS Instructor certification. You must be able to perform the following five water-competency skills:
ALTS certification course registrations are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Questions, please email Holly Neumann at holly.neumann@usms.org.
