Annual SC Meter Fall Classic & Team Championship

 

Facility: Nassau County Aquatic Center (“NCAC”) located in Eisenhower Park on Long Island. Facility is conveniently accessible from all major area highways and within 5-10 minutes of several LIRR train stations. 80,000 square foot complex with spectator grandstand area; “stretch” 68-meter pool with three bulkheads; 10 short course meter competition lanes with two-meter minimum depth; adjacent short course lanes for continuous warm-up and cool down throughout meet; Colorado electronic timing system and scoreboard display. Originally constructed to host the 1998 Goodwill Games, the NCAC has also been the site of Speedo Northeast Junior National Championships, USA Swimming National Championships, US Open and FINA World Cup events, USMS New York State and Colonies Zone Championships, and both the Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I Championships.

Eligibility: Open to all 2011 or 2012 USMS registered swimmers age 18 and older. Age determination date for this meet is December 31, 2011. Need to register with USMS (or renew registration) for this meet? Go to www.usms.org/reg/

 

Rules: 2011 USMS Rules govern this meet. NO DIVING permitted during warm-up except for designated one-way sprint lanes.

 

Schedule: Warm-Up 8:15-9:10 AM / Meet Start 9:15 AM / Projected Finish 1:00 PM. Due to facility time restrictions, the meet can not be held up (or heat and lane assignment changes made) if anyone misses their heat or event. Reference meet program, listen to announcements, watch scoreboard, and follow the competition. As a general guideline, estimated meet time line will be posted online 3-4 days prior to meet at www.aquafitmasters.com.

 

Check-In: POSITIVE CHECK-IN BY 10:00 AM IS REQUIRED FOR EVENT #13 MIXED 400 SCM FREESTYLE. If you do not check in, you will be SCRATCHED from the event. Event will be seeded after positive check-in has closed.

 

Relays: DECK-ENTER AT MEET BY 10:00 AM. A supply of relay entry forms will be available at meet. Relay age group is determined by the aggregate (sum) age of all four relay team members. Make sure all swimmers are present before submitting relay entry. All relay team members must be USMS-registered with the SAME CLUB and must be individually entered in meet. Unattached swimmers are ineligible for relay participation.

 

Seeding: Swimmers will be seeded in heats according to entry time, not by age and gender. Heats will be contested slowest to fastest, with “NT” entries seeded in the first heat. All events will be pre-seeded prior to the meet except for relays and the 400 scm freestyle (which will be seeded at the meet once deck entry and positive check-in have ended).

 

Team Scoring: Individual Events score 8-6-4-3-2-1 points for 1st through 6th place; relays score 16-12-8 points for 1st through 3rd place.

 

Awards: Individual Events: Medals for 1st to 3rd place and ribbons for 4th to 6th place awarded by gender and age group (18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, and so forth in five-year increments). Relays: Medals for 1st through 3rd place by age group (72-99, 100-119, 120-159, 160-199, 200-239, and so on in 40-year increments). Special commemorative awards presented to the FIRST PLACE TEAM in each of the following divisions: Small Team (1-11 swimmers), Medium Team (12-24 swimmers), and Large Team (25+ swimmers). Pick up your awards immediately - no awards will be available or mailed after meet concludes.

 

Split Times: Any swimmer who intends to post a USMS top ten, USMS national or FINA world record split time must submit official split time request IN WRITING to computer table prior to meet conclusion. Note: Initial backstroke individual and relay lead-off split requests must be submitted in writing PRIOR TO SWIM. Official split time request forms will be available at meet.

 

Entry Limit: Each swimmer is permitted to enter and swim a MAXIMUM of 5 individual plus 2 relay events.

 

Entry Times: Enter SHORT COURSE METER TIMES for all events. No “NT” (no time) entries accepted for 400 scm freestyle. Online automated entry time utility is available at www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/results/conversions.asp

 

Entry Fee: $30 flat individual entry fee. A registration processing fee of $3.25 will be charged as a separate line item. Relays are FREE. Entry fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

 

Deadline: ONLINE registration CLOSES at 11:59 PM on Sunday 13 November 2011. MAIL entry must be RECEIVED (not postmarked) by 5:00 PM on Saturday 12 November 2011. No late, fax, phone or email entries can be accepted - no exceptions.

 

Register Online: Online entry system is strongly recommended for convenience, speed and accuracy. Have your current USMS registration number and a credit card handy. Credit card statement will reflect a charge by Club Assistant.com Event Billing.

 

Refreshments: With the exception of bottled water or sports drinks, facility management prohibits food and beverages on pool deck or in locker rooms. A full-service concession stand is available on the second floor of the aquatic center, with beverage and snack vending machines located in the hallway behind team locker rooms.

 

Results: Results will be posted online at www.aquafitmasters.com and www.metroswim.org.
