Short Course Yards (SCY)

Online Registration for this Meet is Preferred. If you need a paper entry, please contact the director (below).

Time:  Check-in begins at 3:00 pm. Deck entries close at 3:30. First warm-up is 3:00 – 3:50pm. Events 1 and 2 (1000/1650) start at 4:00 pm. There will be a 2nd Warm-up immediately following the 1000/1650 till 5:30. Additional warm-up and cool down will be available in the diving well (20 yards) throughout the meet. The meet should conclude by approximately 8:00 pm.

Eligibility:  You must be a member of USMS to swim in the meet. If you are not currently registered for membership, you may sign up ONLINE (preferred!) at www.MOVYmasters.org or at www.usms.org.  If you register online prior to November 1, the member fee is prorated, but will only provide you with USMS membership through the end of 2011. However, if you register on November 1 or later, you will enjoy USMS member benefits through the end of 2012. Benefits include a full year's subscription to Swimmer magazine, access to meets and other fitness events throughout the year.

Rules:  The current USMS rules will govern the conduct of the meet.  Heats will be seeded, slowest to fastest.  Please enter a goal time for accurate seeding. Entries with no times will be seeded in the slowest heats. Men and women of all ages will swim mixed. You might swim next to someone older or younger, man or woman, of approximately the same speed. Results will be broken out by age group and gender (i.e. Men/Women, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39 and so on).

Age Calculation:  Your age for this meet is your age on 11/19/2011.

Awards: Ribbons will be awarded for 1st  – 6th in each event, gender and age group.

Entry Fees:  $10.00 meet fee, plus $5 per event, up to $25.00 max (4th and 5th event are FREE); all late and deck entries are $30.00 regardless of event total.  Online registration for this meet is preferred.  Online registration accepts a credit card.  Your credit card statement will reflect a charge from "Club Assistant.com Event Billing."

T-Shirt:  An optional 3rd Annual Gladstone Masters Meet T-Shirt is available for purchase for $10 during online registration.  Here is a peek at the T-Shirt design:


Limits***:  Swimmers may swim up to five events, plus relays.  Please be aware that this meet will run fast.  If you enter back-to-back events, your rest time may be very short (or non-existent). There are 2 scheduled 10 min breaks after events 8 and 15. There is also a 2nd warmup after the distance events.
   
*** You may swim either the 1000 or 1650, not both. These events will be limited to the first 16 swimmers (2 heats) to register online, and may be combined.

Deadline:  Register online for this meet by midnight central time on November 17, 2011 for the $25.00 (or less) entry fee.  Late and deck entries will be accepted at the $30.00 rate.

Charity Event Opportunity:  Many of you know one of our local elite swimmers, Tony Rezek. Tony has a son with autism, and is very active in raising awareness for Autism charities. I have a niece who has a son with autism. Did you know that Autism is more common in children than cancer, AIDS, and diabetes combined?
   
Tony told me a little about Train4Autism.org. I found it interesting, and I’m happy to offer this opportunity for anyone who might be interested. With Train4Autism you can raise money and/or awareness for the Autism charity of your choice. You can use any athletic event you would like for motivation. They have a list of events, but you can designate any 5k, Bike race, Triathlon, Swim Meet (3rd Annual Gladstone Masters Meet!), or whatever as your “Event”. Train4Autism helps you set up a website, choose a charity, set goal amounts, send out emails, etc..

Feel free to combine efforts as a team if you’d like. Donations to Autism Charities will be accepted during meet registration as well.
