Asphalt Green is hosting the 2nd Swim for the Future inter-squad swim meet on Friday, September 23rd, 2011 from 6:00-8:30pm to raise scholarships for young, deserving swimmers.
Honoring two AGUA Masters champions—Andrew Fischer and Doug Irgang—who lost their lives ten years ago on September 11th, Swim for the Future memorializes these men by giving the next generation of swimmers an opportunity to compete.
Asphalt Green’s Unified Aquatics Swim Team (AGUA) scholarship recipients break national age group records. They realize their potential in the pool and learn valuable lessons about character, dedication, and teamwork.
Your $50 entry fee will go directly to the Swim for the Future Scholarship Fund.
On the night of the meet, you will have the opportunity to compete in four individual events (50 Fly, 50 Back, 50 Breast, and 50 Free) as well as one team relay.
Athletes from Asphalt Green Masters and AGUA teams will be combined, thus creating two integrated squads—Asphalt vs Green—lead by Captains Craig Keller and Rachel Stratton. Each team will also compete to see who raises the most money for swim scholarships.
A full scholarship costs $3600 for the year and it offers a lifetime of confidence building—within and outside the pool! This is a great and rewarding opportunity to give the gift of swimming to deserving young athletes.
