Location: Hague Public Beach, Lake George, Hague, NY. The lake temperature usually varies between 68º F and 75º F during this time of year. The 2012 event temperature was 73 degrees. Lake George is pristine and many families rely on the lake water for drinking.

Eligibility: Open to all 2013 USMS- or FINA-registered swimmers 18 years and over as of the day of the swim. If you are not a member, you can obtain a One Event Registration ($14 fee) or obtain a one year USMS membership by visiting ($39 fee). The age of a swimmer is his or her age on the day of the event for which he or she is registered. There are no mail-in entries for this event, only online registration.

Events: Saturday: 2.5k, 5k, 10k events on a 2.5k loop course. 5k is two loops, 10k is four loops. Wetsuit and non-wetsuit divisions for each event. Sunday: 4 mile point-to-point swim from Rogers Rock Campground to Hague Beach (direction may change depending on wind that weekend). This is a non-wetsuit swim and swimmers are required to have a personal kayak escort.

2.5 km: August 24, 2013 - 7:45 am
5 km: August 24, 2013 - 9:30 am
10 km: August 24, 2013 - 7:45 am
4 mi: August 25, 2013 - 8:00 am

Awards: Top three overall males and females in each division of each race (2.5k, 5k, 10k) will receive a prize. Prizes will also be awarded to top three males and females in the following age-groups: 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54... etc., 100+

Safety: Safety support will be coordinated with Hague Fire Department, the Lake George Park Commission, the Warren County Sheriff’s office and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. There will be sufficient craft on or adjacent to the prescribed course to ensure the safety of the swimmers. Swimmers will be briefed on all safety aspects before the start of the race. All safety personnel and race officials will be identified by signage and distinctive clothing. Swimmers will be advised of their location. Local authorities and meet management have the authority to postpone or cancel the event for safety reasons. Updates will be posted on

Qualifying and Cut Off Times: Please submit evidence of having completed a swim that is two-thirds the distance of your chosen event (applies to 5k, 10k and 4 mile). A past race result is sufficient or details of an open water training swim. E-mail this information to These swims must have taken place in open water (not pool). Cut-off times for the swims are 2.5 hours for the 5k, 4.25 hours for the 10k and 3 hours for the 4 mile swim.

Charity Partner: In addition to the Dragons Alive paddling organization, this year we will be working to secure food donations and/or financial donations to support the Hague Food Bank. The swimmer who brings the most food and also the swimmer who fundraises/donates the most money will each win a special item (please refer to Web site and FB page for updates).

Entry Fees: The entry fees cover safety (water craft, EMTs), race shirts, finisher gifts, awards and post-race food & drink. USMS membership (whether a one-event registration or annual membership) covers insurance requirements for the race. No one will be allowed to swim without proof of membership or having paid the one day fee. Registration is only available online, and will verify USMS membership. *For those swimming in multiple events, you will receive one race apparel item but multiple finisher gifts.

Entry Deadlines: Online registration closes August 21, 2013 at 11:59pm.

Refund Policy: In the case of inclement weather or other unexpected circumstances the event director has the right to cancel the race or shorten the event. In these cases there will be no refunds provided. In signing up for this event, the participants are agreeing to these terms.

Check-in/ Mandatory Meeting: All swimmers must check in at the starting location at least one (1) hour prior to the scheduled start of the race. All swimmers will be required to attend the final pre-race briefing 25 minutes before the start of the race. Failure to arrive on time for the briefing could result in not being able to swim.
