What & Where: One and Two mile Open Water Swim, one of a whole host of Family Fun Events that make up the 2011 Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad VII, August 26 – 28, 2011.  www.hickorynutolympiad.com

This is a one mile triangular course on beautiful Lake Lure Located in western North Carolina; the town sits in the heart of Hickory Nut Gorge, east of Asheville.  We swim from the beach of Rumbling Bald Resort.  For more information about the Resort and Lodging options:  www.rumblingbald.com

When:  Saturday August 27, 2011
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM Check-In @ RBR Pavilion on the Beach
11:00 AM – 11:30 Warm-Up
11:40 AM - Required Pre-Race Briefing at Swim Start/RBR Beach Area
12 NOON - Wave 1 of USMS Swimmers
10 Minutes after Final Wave of USMS Swimmers, Non-USMS Swimmers Start
Award Ceremony Following Event with Medals given for 1^st, 2^nd & 3^rd in each Gender/Age Group

Eligibility:  Event is Open to USMS & Non-USMS Swimmers alike – but they will swim in separate waves.    Non-USMS Swimmers must be 13 years old or older.  Minors Release form must be signed by Parent/Guardian.

How to Enter/Register:  The entry fee is $30 & includes Collectible T-Shirt.
Online Registration is preferred, encouraged & provides immediate entry confirmation.
Online registration closes at midnight eastern time on August 24, 2011. 
Paper registrations will be accepted on Race Day Only from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Rumbling Bald Resort Pavilion on the Beach.

Safety-Our Primary Concern:  Safety boats will monitor the entire course and medical personnel will be on-site.  Swimmers must wear the swim cap provided, must have their race number on their arms, and must follow all announced safety rules with out exception.  Time Limit:  Swimmers who cannot complete one mile in 50 minutes or two miles in 1:45 should NOT enter; swimmers on the course after these time limits may be stopped and listed as DNF in the results.

Rules:  Current USMS rules will govern this event.

Timing:  Transponder chip and back-up timing provided by www.setupevents.com
Note:  There is a $30 fee for failing to return the transponder chip device.

Cancellation Policy:  If on the established date of the Swim weather or disaster necessitates cancellation there will be NO REFUNDS, but if present you will receive your Collectible T-Shirt.
