Lake Lure is a well-known destination for thousands of visitors each year from around the country, Canada, and abroad. Located in western North Carolina, the town sits in the heart of Hickory Nut Gorge, east of Asheville. Lake Lure is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the world. Eligibility: To register for this event you must be 18 years or older and have a 2013 U.S. Masters Swimming registration or purchase a One Event registration (OEVT). You may take care of membership registration or OEVT during your event entry process.
Entries: This event will use online entries only – No Paper Entries
Entry Deadlines: Registration will be closed at Midnight, Thursday August 22, 2013. Late entries will not be accepted, No walk-up or mailed-in entries will be allowed.
Safety–Our Primary Concern: Safety boats will monitor the entire course and medical personnel will be on-site. Swimmers must wear the swim cap provided, must have their race number on their arms, and must follow all announced safety rules with out exception. (Safety plan)
Time Limit: Swimmers who cannot complete two mile in less than 1 hour 45 minutes should NOT enter; swimmers on the course after the time limit may be stopped and listed as DNF in the results.
Rules: Curent 2013 U.S. Masters Swimming rules will govern this event.
Timing: Transponder chip and back-up timing provided by www.setupevents.com. Note there is a $30 fee for failing to return the transponder chip device.
Fees: The entry fee is $45 and includes collecitble T-shirt. Registrations completed after August 4th, will not receive a T-shirt. Online entries are paid by credit card to "ClubAssistant.com Events."
*One Event (OEVT) Fee: If you are NOT a current USMS member you will be charged and additional $12 fee at registration. A one-event registration provides USMS insurance coverage to a participant in one “event”.
Water Temperature: 78-82 degree F (approximate)
Seeding: Entries will be seeded fast to slow using submitted 1650 yard time. Entries will be divided into waves and started every two minutes.
Age Groups: 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, etc. in five year increments, as high as necessary for both men/women. Age determined as of race day.
Awards: Championship medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each gender/age group. Results will be posted at www.usms.org, www.lakelureolympiad.com, www.clubassistant.com.

Cancellation Policy: If on the established date of the swim, weather or disaster necessitates cancellation there will be NO REFUNDS, but if present you will receive your collectible T-Shirt.
