Carlsbad Swim Masters 2014 Short Course Meters Meet

SCHEDULE: Sunday, June 29, 2014 - 8 am warm-up, 9 am start

POOL: Alga Norte Aquatic Center, 6565 Alicante Road, Carlsbad, CA 92009 (760)268-4778; 56 meter x 25 yard competition pool heated to 78 degrees. Colorado Timing System with 8 lane readout. Concessions will be available. 8 lane short course meter course with 4, 25 yard lanes available for warm up during the meet.

ELIGIBILITY: All persons holding a 2014 United States Masters Swimming (USMS) membership card or a foreign FINA member equivalent may participate provided that a completed entry form is submitted with proof of member ship and the liability release is electronicaly signed. USMS on-line membership is available at www.usms.org/reg. A membership form can be downloaded from the membership section of the SI LMSC web site at http://www.SIMasterSwim.org.

ENTRY FEE: $20 individual pre-entry fee; $30 day-of-meet individual deck entry fee (prior to 8:30 am); $10 flat fee for "Relay Only" swimmers. There will be NO REFUNDS for cancellations or no shows.

TO ENTER ONLINE:Club Assistant online entry is preferred.  Online entries will be paid by credit card to ClubAssistant.com Events.

ENTRY DUE DATE: Online entries are due by 6pm on 6/27/14; Mail in entries must be postmarked by 6/25/14.

TO ENTER ON DECK: - Bring completed entry form w/ signed liability release, a legible copy of your 2014 USMS/foreign card, & $30 cash or check payable to “City of Carlsbad” to the meet administration desk by 8:30 am.

RULES: USMS Rules govern the meet. Officials are certified. Failure to act in a sportsmanlike or safe manner or to cooperate with the officials can result in disqualification from the meet. A USMS Rule Book will be available on deck. The length of the competition course is in compliance and on file with USMS in accordance with USMS Rule Book articles 105.17 and 107.2.1, but as a bulkhead course, is subject to length confirmation. Eligibility of times for USMS Top 10 and records will be contingent on verification of bulkhead placement.

EVENTS: Swimmers may enter up to 5 individual events. Enter accurate short course meters times or estimates; do not omit an entry time or enter “no time.” All events are seeded from slow to fast by entry time regardless of age or gender.

CHECK IN: Check-in is required for the 1500 & 800 meter Freestyles. Check-in closes at 8:45 am for the 1500 and at the end of Event 17 for the 800. Please notify the meet director if you check in and later decide not to swim. All other events are pre-seeded.

AGE GROUPS: Individual Events: 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, etc. in five-year increments as needed.

AGE DETERMINATION: For meters meets, the swimmer’s competition age is determined as of 12/31/2014 (end of the year).

TIMING: Electronic Timing - Colorado Timing System 6 and two timers per lane. All clubs and participants are required to assist with backup stopwatch timing during the meet.

RELAYS: $4 each; deck entered; entries due before Event #17. Relay-only swimmers must submit a completed entry form with signed liability release, a USMS card copy, & $10 relay-only entry fee. All 4 swimmers on each relay must belong to the same USMS-member club. Relays must be composed of 4 women, 4 men, or 2 women & 2 men (mixed). A swimmer may swim only once per relay event. Cumulative age of relay members determines relay age group: 72-99, 100-119, 120-159, 160-199, etc. in 40-year increments as needed.

DIRECTIONS FROM NORTH or SOUTH:

Take the 5 freeway to Carlsbad and exit at Palomar Airport Road. Head East on Palomar Airport Road and follow to El Camino Real. Head South (turn right) on on El Camino Real. Turn Left on Town Garden road. Turn left on Alicante and follow to the bottom of the hill. Alga Norte Aquatic Center is located on the right.
