TIMES: Competition will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. Warm-ups for participants in the mile will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. General warm-ups will begin at the completion of the mile and will last for 30 minutes. On Sunday, warm-ups for all participants will begin at 9:00 a.m.

PARKING: No fee or permit is required for parking. Please park in the high school’s large lot on Main Street and leave the spaces closest to the pool entrance for other pool patrons, as the Bozeman Swim Center will be open to the public throughout the meet.

FACILITY: Eight-lane, 50-meter pool with a removable bulkhead that divides the pool into a 25-yard course and a 25-meter course. The meet will be held in the 25-yard course. The length of the competition course is in compliance and on file with USMS in accordance with articles 105.1.7 and 106.2.1, but as a bulkhead course, is subject to length confirmation. Eligibility of times for USMS Top 10 and records will be contingent on verification of bulkhead placement. 

The racing course is equipped with Kiefer Advantage I racing lane lines and Spectrum Xcellerator starting platforms. An automatic Colorado Timing System will be used, with touchpads at the starting end only. A semiautomatic secondary timing system and two timers with manual stopwatches will be provided per lane as backup. A nine-line numeric LED scoreboard will be in use.

WARM-UP/WARM-DOWN: Swimmers must enter the pool feet first in a cautious and controlled manner. Diving and backstroke starts shall be permitted only in the designated lanes, and only when specified by meet officials. No hand paddles are allowed. In addition to the specified warm-up times before each session, one 25-meter lane in the shallow end of the pool will be available for warm-up/warm-down throughout the meet. 

SEATING: Please bring your own chairs and/or blankets to sit on as the availability of bleacher seating is limited.

CONCESSIONS: Coffee and baked goods will be available for purchase in the lobby of the Bozeman Swim Center.

RULES: Current USMS rules will govern the meet. The most up-to-date version of the rule book is available online at https://www.usms.org/rules/.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all 2020 USMS-registered swimmers 18 years of age or over as of 3/1/2020. Single-meet registrations are available for swimmers who are not already USMS members and do not wish to purchase an annual USMS membership. These are called one-event registrations, and they allow a swimmer to compete in either or both days of the meet, up to the entry limits detailed below. One-event registrants will be considered unattached and agree to be governed by the rules and regulations of USMS, except that their times shall not be considered for state records, Top Ten tabulation, USMS or world records, All-American status, or any other USMS special awards.

AGE GROUPS: 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, 100-104… (five-year age groups as high as is necessary). The eligibility of a participant for a particular age group shall be determined by the participant’s age on 3/1/2020.

ENTRY LIMITS: Each swimmer may compete in a maximum of eight individual events, not exceeding six individual events in a single day. There is no limit on relays.

SEEDING: Swimmers will be seeded based on their submitted times. All events will be swum mixed-gender and seeded slowest to fastest. There will be no individual deck entries. All relays will be deck-seeded.

CHECK-IN: Positive check-in will be required for the 1,650 and 1,000 freestyle events.

SCORING AND AWARDS: No scoring will be kept. No awards will be given.

ENTRY FEES: $40 per swimmer. Swimmers who do not have a current U.S. Masters Swimming annual membership must purchase a one-event registration for $15. No entries will be accepted without the proper entry fees. There will be no refunds. Entries must be received no later than Friday, February 21, 2020.

MEET FORMAT: Events will be swum in the order indicated on the entry form. All events will be conducted on a timed-final basis.

RESULTS: Results will be posted as they are finalized at the meet. Swimmers will be placed according to their gender and age group categories.

ALTITUDE ADJUSTMENT: The altitude is 4,793 feet. Times achieved in this meet may be adjusted, for national qualifying times purposes only, by subtracting the adjustment time (in seconds) from the actual time achieved. The specific adjustments for each age group and gender are found in the appendix of the USMS rule book.

LODGING: We have secured a block of rooms at a highly-rated motel that is a short five-minute walk from the Bozeman Swim Center. The Lewis & Clark Motel at 824 W. Main St. is holding 20 double queen rooms for meet participants at the discounted rate of $129/night Friday and Saturday and $109/night on Sunday. These rates are based on two guests per room. Additional guests are $20 per guest, per night. DINNER AND SOCIAL: A dinner and social will be held Saturday evening at Foundant Technologies, 143 Willow Peak Dr., Bozeman, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The dinner will be catered by Food for Thought Catering Co. On the menu: Traditional lasagna bolognese, seasonal vegetarian lasagna, mixed green salad with sliced vegetables and house vinaigrette, bread basket with butter, assorted cookies, lemonade and water. The price is $18.90 per person.
