30th Annual Chicago Masters' Big Shoulders 5K and 2.5K Open Water Long Distance Swim Classic

Before beginning, we want to make sure you understand the endeavor you are signing up for.  Big Shoulders is the oldest and largest open water swim in the Midwestern US, and among the largest and oldest in the world.  Our event offers 2 distances, the 2.5K and the 5K.  If you have never swum open water before, read the following carefully:

Open Water swimming is a wonderful way to enjoy the water, and is often far more thrilling than pool swimming.  No walls, no lane lines, dealing with the weather and waves, and often you cannot even see the bottom.  For the same reasons, open water swimming can be more dangerous.  For this reason, before proceeding, acknowledge below that you have the experience and conditioning to engage in Big Shoulders.
