Instructor Certification Adult Learn to Swim
U.S. Masters Swimming is hosting a USMS ALTS instructor certification course on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, in Baltimore, Md.
DAY, DATE
Check-in: 8-8:30 a.m.
Classroom instruction: 8:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
Lunch: 12:30 p.m.*
In-water pool instruction: 2:30-4:30 p.m.
*Lunch will be provided by USMS. Please note that most of the lunches are sandwich-based and do not always include a vegetarian option or recognize dietary restrictions and food allergies. If you have food restrictions, please feel free to bring along something that will accommodate your needs.

Instructor
Bill Meier is the aquatics director for Bard College at Simon’s Rock and the head coach of the PaceMakers Swim Team. As the chairman of the New England LMSC, he directed the effort that led to the "April is Adult Learn to Swim Month" initiative which included training over 100 volunteers to teach nonswimming adults. Bill has run a successful SwimAmerica program for almost 20 years and has coached age-group, high school, college and Masters programs. Bill is a Level 4 USMS certified Masters coach. He was the captain of his college team and, as an ocean lifeguard on the south shore of Long Island, competed in the Ironman and ocean dory races.
ALTS Prerequisites
You must be a current USMS member to participate in the course and receive USMS ALTS Instructor certification. You must be able to perform the following five water-competency skills:
ALTS certification course registrations are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Questions, please email Holly Neumann at holly.neumann@usms.org.
