Instructor Certification Adult Learn to Swim
U.S. Masters Swimming is hosting a USMS ALTS instructor certification course on Saturday, April 22, 2017, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Saturday, April 22
Check-in: 8-8:30 a.m.
Classroom instruction: 8:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.
Lunch: 12:30 p.m.*
In-water pool instruction: 2-4 p.m.
*Lunch will be provided by USMS. Please note that most of the lunches are sandwich-based and do not always include a vegetarian option or recognize dietary restrictions and food allergies. If you have food restrictions, please feel free to bring along something that will accommodate your needs.

Instructor
Mike Hamm is a lead USMS-certified ALTS instructor and a USMS-certified level 3 Masters coach. He has coached swimming for 47 years, including more than 22 years at the Masters level in both California and Idaho. He is currently the head Masters coach at the Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and also owns and operates the Hamm Swim School, where they specialize in individual instruction for swimmers of all ages and levels. In addition to teaching the ALTS certification course for USMS, Mike teaches the coaching Levels 1-3 course and stroke development clinics. He is an Olympic Trials qualifier, USA All-American and USMS All-American and set several NCAA Div. II national records while in college. He is passionate about swimming for all ages and levels, and his goal is to use successful swimming to build community and friendships across the nation.
ALTS Prerequisites
You must be a current USMS member to participate in the course and receive USMS ALTS Instructor certification. You must be able to perform the following five water-competency skills:
