U.S. Masters Swimming is hosting a USMS Stroke Develoment Clinic Course for Coaches on Saturday & Sunday, September 9 & 10, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ

The USMS Stroke Development Clinic Course, offered by USMS Education Services, instructs the Masters coach how to conceptualize, organize and deliver a stroke development clinic (SDC).  The course consists of both a classroom and on-deck component.  The registration for the clinic course is limited to 12 coaches per class. Mel Goldstein was the 2001 Speedo US Masters Coach of the year, Mel won the 1997 Ransom J. Arthur MD Award that goes annually to a person who best supports the objectives of Masters swimming. It is the highest honor bestowed by United States Masters Swimming. He is a past President of USMS and a USMS All American with 255 Individual Top Ten Achievements. In 2012, he was inducted into the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame.

Bill Brenner is the Chief Operating Officer and Education Director of U.S. Masters Swimming. He has over 35 years of experience coaching swimming at the age group, college and Masters levels. A USMS certified level 4 Masters coach, Bill has been involved in the evolution of the USMS Masters coach certification courses curricula and has taught hundreds of classes to thousands of Masters coaches. Bill established the USMS Adult learn-to-swim certification program and serves as an ALTS lead instructor. With the knowledge acquired from coaching 20-30 Masters swim clinics each year, Bill recently wrote the USMS Clinic Course for Coaches, teaching Masters coaches how to run a successful USMS stroke development clinic. Bill serves as an ambassador and advocate for USMS by visiting hundreds of existing clubs and workout groups, establishing new Masters programs, speaking at national aquatics conferences and maintaining relationships with strategic partners such as USA-Swimming, USA-Triathlon, Y-USA, LifeTime Fitness and the Kroc Centers. Prior to joining USMS as a staff member, Bill served USMS as a volunteer at the local and national level. He has been a swim meet director, support team staff member and coach at his local program, the Sarasota YMCA Sharks Masters. Bill enjoys sharing his passion for swimming with others by encouraging adults to swim for life.

Prerequisites
You must be a Masters coach who has successfully completed Level 1, or higher, of the USMS Masters coach certification. Current USMS membership is also required.

Fees
$50.00 per coach. USMS designated Masters coaches receive a $10.00 discount during the online registration process.

Maximum
Maximum attendance is 12 coaches.

Who should attend?
Certified Masters coaches who want to develop the skills and resources necessary to host a successful stroke development clinic.

Scholarships
The LMSC will provide financial support to cover 50% of the course registration fees for LMSC member coaches who successfully complete the coach certification and/or clinic course for coaches.  The LMSC will not provide financial support for travel or other costs to attend these clinics. Individuals requesting financial support from the AZ LMSC must be registered USMS and AZ LMSC members for the year during which the coaching clinic takes place. Individuals must submit a request, providing the information below, to the Arizona LMSC copying the Registrar, Treasurer and Secretary prior to the clinic taking place.  Please include the following information: Member info- Name, Address, Phone, DOB, USMS #, Clinic attended, location and dates of clinic and signature line agreeing to terms. Individuals will receive reimbursement no later than 45 days after they have submitted proof to the LSMC Treasurer of successful completion of the course. This proof must be submitted within 30 days after the course is completed.

Cancellation Policy

Clinic course registrations are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled clinic course, you may transfer your registration to a clinic course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to Marianne Groenings: mgroenings@usmastersswimming.org.
