Instructors: Mel Goldstein and Bill Brenner

Mel Goldstein was the 2001 Speedo US Masters Coach of the year, Mel won the 1997 Ransom J. Arthur MD Award that goes annually to a person who best supports the objectives of Masters swimming. It is the highest honor bestowed by United States Masters Swimming. He is a past President of USMS and a USMS All American with 255 Individual Top Ten Achievements. In 2012, he was inducted into the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame.

Bill Brenner is the Chief Operating Officer and Education Director of U.S. Masters Swimming. He has over 35 years of experience coaching swimming at the age group, college and Masters levels. A USMS certified level 4 Masters coach, Bill has been involved in the evolution of the USMS Masters coach certification courses curricula and has taught hundreds of classes to thousands of Masters coaches. Bill established the USMS Adult learn-to-swim certification program and serves as an ALTS lead instructor. With the knowledge acquired from coaching 20-30 Masters swim clinics each year, Bill recently wrote the USMS Clinic Course for Coaches, teaching Masters coaches how to run a successful USMS stroke development clinic. Bill serves as an ambassador and advocate for USMS by visiting hundreds of existing clubs and workout groups, establishing new Masters programs, speaking at national aquatics conferences and maintaining relationships with strategic partners such as USA-Swimming, USA-Triathlon, Y-USA, LifeTime Fitness and the Kroc Centers. Prior to joining USMS as a staff member, Bill served USMS as a volunteer at the local and national level. He has been a swim meet director, support team staff member and coach at his local program, the Sarasota YMCA Sharks Masters. Bill enjoys sharing his passion for swimming with others by encouraging adults to swim for life.

Prerequisites
You must have completed Levels 1&2 of the USMS Masters coach certification program and be a current USMS Member to participate in the course. Please note that you can not take the level 3 certification on the same weekend that you are taking levels 1&2.

Certification Process
Upon successful completion of the certification process, including all required memberships, applications and completed tests: Each person will be awarded a USMS level 3 Certified Masters Coach certificate.

Fees
$225 for Level 3 Course.

Maximum
Maximum attendance is 25.

Who should attend?
Current full-time, part-time or volunteer coaches who would like to explore the possibilities of coaching Masters swimmers as a profession. Anyone interested in supporting their existing team and coach.

Scholarships
For any coach registered with a Pacific Masters Swimming club and recognized by that club as a coach, Pacific Masters Swimming will reimburse up to 80% of the early registration fee of any USMS Coaching Clinic conducted within the Pacific Masters Swimming region. Other clinics conducted within the Pacific Masters Swimming region deemed by the Coaches Chair to be relevant to Pacific Masters Swimming members may be reimbursed at the same rate. Scholarships will be issued after you complete the course. Coach certification registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable to another individual. However, If you can provide the USMS national office with a minimum of 72 hours notice before the start of the scheduled course, you may transfer your registration to a course at an alternate date and location. Written email notification must be sent to clubandcoach@usmastersswimming.org
