This meet has been cancelled due to the closure of facilities, in response to Covid-19, around the Houston area. Alternate location have been sought but at this time, there is no guarantee that any venue will be available. Full refunds will be processed for everyone who has entered the meet which should be completed by March 26th.

USMS 2020 South Central Zone Short Course Championships

A Short Course Yards Timed Finals Meet

Facility – University of Houston Rec Center Natatorium – updated Summer of 2015 - 4500 University Dr, Houston, TX 77204

• 70 meter pool configured with eight 25 yd competition lanes and maximum of 15 warm up/cool down lanes
• Colorado 6 timing system, touchpads, buttons and scoreboards. One large and one small scoreboard.
• Complete replacement of all filters, pumps, motors, piping, and chemical feed systems on all bodies of water
• Addition of UV technology to both pools and spas
• New dehumidification system for the natatorium and dedicated spectator seating HVAC
• Replacement of the video boards and timing system
• Replacement of the previous stainless steel bulkheads to three Stark fiberglass bulkheads
• Overhead lighting replaced with LED with dimming capabilities
• Replacement of starting blocks to customized Spectrum Xcellerator blocks
• Pool depth in competition course is 8’ to 13’

Pool Length: The length of the competition course is in compliance and on file with USMS in accordance with articles 105.1.7 and 107.2.1, but as a bulkhead course, is subject to length confirmation. Eligibility of times for USMS Top 10 and records will be contingent on verification of bulkhead placement.

Rules: Current USMS rules and regulations will govern the conduct of the meet
Sanction: Sanctioned by Gulf Master Swim Committee for USMS, Inc. Times achieved at the meet will be submitted to USMS and eligible for Top Ten and USMS National records.
Eligibility: Open to all currently registered USMS and FINA swimmers. Swimmers not currently registered with USMS will be given an opportunity to register with USMS while doing their online entry. Swimmers must be 18 years of age on or before April 5, 2020

* The 400 IM and 500, 1000 & 1650 Free will have genders seeded together by time but separated for scoring

Age: Athlete age at the meet is determined by their age on the last day of the meet.
Age Groups:

• • • • Individual: 18-24,25-29,30-34,35-39,40-44,45-49,50-54,55-59,60-64,65-69,70-74,75-79, etc.
      • Relays: 18+, 25+, 35+, 45+, 55+, 65+, 75+, 85+, 95
      • The age of the youngest relay team member shall determine the relay age group.

Relay Entries: Relays may be registered online prior to the meet for fee of $15 each. Relays can also be entered at the meet for $20. Online relay registration opens at 1 PM on Tuesday March 31^st and closes at 3 PM Friday April 3^rd. Relays entered in advance DO NOT need to have swimmer’s names put in. All relays, early and deck entered, will need to turn in relay cards at the meet with swimmer’s names in the proper order.

Teams may use relay only swimmers to create relays. Relay only swimmers must be registered by the deadline of noon on March 31^st. Registration is $10 per relay only swimmer with no refunds given for no shows.
Number of Events Allowed: 5 individual events per day & 3 relay events per day. TIME LIMIT CUT OFFS- 50:00 FOR THE 1650 FREE; 25:00 FOR THE 1000 FREE, 16:00 FOR THE 400 IM, 12:00 FOR THE 500 FREE, 8:00 FOR THE 200 BACK, BREAST & FLY
IMPORTANT: Swimmers are asked to voluntarily notify the Meet Director by email at ncr@creativewaters.net of their intent to scratch any events by 5 PM on the Wed April 1^st  before the meet. Psych sheet will be posted and emailed to registered swimmers no later than Wed AM. Final seeding of all pre-seeded events will occur after early scratch deadline has passed.
No fines or penalties will be handing out for swimmers who no show/scratch at the meet. No refunds given for no shows.
Entry Fee Deadlines:
All entries are ONLINE only. Early Bird, Regular and Late fees depending on date entered. Fees will rise after each deadline passes.

• $55 fee - EARLY BIRD SPECIAL! Enter by 11:59 PM on Friday January 31^st at the beginning of the SC season
• $65 fee - Deadline Friday March 20^th 11:59 PM.
• $75 fee - Deadline NOON on Tuesday March 31^st. INDIVIDUAL and RELAY ONLY SWIMMER REGISTRATION CLOSES.

NO INDIVIDUAL OR RELAY ONLY SWIMMER DECK/DAY OF REGISTRATION ALLOWED.
Individuals wishing to swim on relays only may register as Relay Only Swimmers. The fee to register as a Relay Only Swimmer is $10. The deadline for Relay Only Swimmer registration is March 31^st.
Relays may enter in advance with a reduced fee of $15. Online relay registration opens at 1 PM on Tuesday March 31^st and closes at 3 PM on Friday April 3^rd. Swimmers on pre-entered relays can be filled in at the meet.

Seeding: Slowest to Fastest for all events EXCEPT THE 1000 AND 1650 FREESTYLE. The 1000 and 1650 free will be seeded fastest to slowest. Ages combined for all events. Genders combined for 400 IM, 500 Free, 1000 Free & 1650 Free. All events EXCEPT the Relays, 400 IM, 500, 1000 & 1650 Free will be pre-seeded.

Scoring:
Individual and Relays through 8^th place.

Top three teams in Combined Scoring will receive trophies
Individual High Point per age group/gender will receive an award 
Trophy to team with most average points per swimmer (Quality Team Award)
Awards will not be mailed and must be picked up at the meet.
Results: Results will be on Meet Mobile and SwimPhone throughout the meet and on the Gulf Masters Swimming web site at www.GulfMastersSwim.org and www.USMS.org after the meet. Hard copy results will be posted continuously throughout the meet. Records will be submitted with proper paperwork and electronic files ASAP after the meet to all appropriate parties. The meet will be observed for USA Swimming times. Swimmers registered with USA Swimming must supply their USA Swimming credentials to the Meet Director and notify the Referee and Meet Director prior to the meet that they want their times in the SWIMS database.
Social: There will be an official Social planned on Saturday evening at a local food and drink establishment. More information will be posted.
Hospitality: Hospitality will be available for Officials, Timers and Meet Volunteers.
Concessions: There will be a concession available inside of the Student Rec Center and additional venues within walking distance.
Hotel: Nearby hotels will be contracted with the offer group block rates for swimmers. Detailed information will be available and posted soon.
Facility Notes:
Large coolers are prohibited on the pool deck. Any food or drink that is brought in by swimmers must fit in their swim bags.
Bleachers will be set up around the pool. Swimmers will not need to bring in their own seating.
Day use lockers are available.

Parking: The Natatorium is in building 522 shown on the map below.
