1.2 Mile and 2.4 Mile Open Water Races

SANCTIONED BY: Wisconsin LMSC for USMS Inc. Sanction # 209-006.
EVENTS: 1.2 mile USMS swim and wetsuit event and 2.4 mile USMS swims and wetsuit event on a course in Lake Monona in front of the Monona Terrance. All races are in water starts. The 2.4 mile swims starts at 8:00 am and the 1.2 mile swims at 8:15 am. The non-wetsuit and wetsuit events will start together. The finish will be on the beach, with chip timing.

Registration/Check-in 6:45 am - 7:40 am
Pre-race Instructions 7:45 am
First Heat Starts 8:00 am
Awards Ceremony following the completion of both races.
LOCATION: Law Park, 100 E. John Nolen Drive Madison WI 53703.
ELIGIBILITY: 18 years of age day of the event. USMS registration is required of all participants. USMS membership is $40/year ending December 31 of the current year. Non-USMS members are required to register as a "One-Event Membership". There is an $18 fee for “One-Event Membership”.
Before August 8, before midnight, entry fee is $30.00 per entrant.
Between August 8 and 6 :00 p.m. August 19 6:00, entry fee is $50.00 per entrant.
After 6 pm, August 19 and before 11:59 AM, August 21 , entry fee is $70.00 per entrant.
THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY ENTRIES!
SAFETY: All swimmers must wear the cap provided at check-in and have their race number put on their arm. Lifeguards, kayaks and safety boats will monitor the race course. Anticipated water temperature will be between 67 and 76 degrees. A 2 hour, 30 minute time limit will be in effect for these races.

AWARDS: Awards will be given each age group for each event. Age groups will be 18-24, 25-29, 30-34 . . . (5 year increments as high as necessary).
CHECK-IN: Photo ID will be required at check-in; USMS swimmer must show their card. You will be required to sign release at check-in, and if applicable “ONE-EVENT FORM”.

DIRECTIONS: I-90 to HWY 12/18 West; exit John Nolen Drive (north). The race staging area is in Law Park, located on the west shore of Lake Monona and immediately north/east of the Monona Terrace Convention Center.
Parking: There is ample parking within a 5-minute walk of the race staging area and in the Monona Terrace Convention Center parking lot. Parking information is available from the Race Director.
