LOCATION:  Munster High School Aquatic Center, 8808 Columbia Ave, Munster, IN 46321

Facility:  2 x 10 Lane, 25 yd. by 25 yd. competition pool.  Minimum (4) lanes for warm-up/cool down.   Deck seating for competitors; elevated spectator seating for up to 800. Colorado Timing system (7) / Meet Manager 8.0.  Men’s and Women’s locker rooms are adjacent to the pool deck.  Vending done by ELSMORE.  Parking is around Munster HS in (3) different lots including Middle School parking and Community Park lots.

Pool: The pool will be set up as 25 yards using up to 20 lanes for competition. The length of the competition course is in compliance and on file with USMS in accordance with articles 105.1.7 and 107.2.1, but as a bulkhead course, is subject to length confirmation. Eligibility of times for USMS Top 10 and Records will be contingent on verification of bulkhead placement.

Racing Course Set up: All Women’s & Men’s individual events will be conducted in BOTH the NORTH (scoreboard) & SOUTH Pool (diving well) all weekend but will switch each day and be determined by the meet host and ILMSA. Relays (course) TBD prior to the event.  Relays which may be separated at discretion of Meet Host. Men will compete against Men & Women will compete against Women.

Eligibility:  Must be over 18 years of age and a current USMS member. In accordance with USMS rules, verification of membership registration must be provided with your entry, either a copy of membership card or verified through online registration. To register with USMS go to: https://www.usms.org/reg/register.php. Age as of the last day of the meet shall determine age for the entire meet.

Entry Limit:  Swimmers may enter from 1 to 5 individual events, plus up to 2 relay events, per day.  No swimmer may compete in more than 11 individual events for the entire meet. 

Entry Procedures:  

• Online entry is preferred.  
• Illinois Masters will have an exclusive period from 3/11/24 (6pm) to 3/31/24 for entering the meet.  
• All other swimmers may enter the ILMSA State meet starting on 4/1/24.  
• The online deadline is April 26, 2024, 10:00 PM CDT.  
• All paper entries must use the ILMSA consolidated multi-day entry form and be postmarked between March 11, 2024 and April 19, 2024.  Distance events will fill up online so paper entries will not suffice.  Please mail paper entries to: Matt Lee, 242 Briar Lane, Munster, IN 46321.  Checks should be made out to “Munster Swim Club”.
• No late entries will be accepted.

Entry fees:  $45 swimmer surcharge, plus $4 per individual event. Fee for Relay-Only swimmers is $50.  Relay team fees will be $15 each submitted by the April 30, 2024 deadline. Your credit card statement will reflect a charge from "MUNSTER SWIM CLUB."  There are no refunds for entry fees.

Events:  All events are timed-final events.  Events are offered in age categories as per rule: 102.3.1 and swum slowest to fastest except for the 1000yd Freestyle events which will be swum fastest to slowest.  The 1000 Freestyle will be limited to the first 160 entries (80 women and 80 men) The 500 Freestyle, and the 400 Individual Medley will be limited to the first 128 entries (64 women and 64 men).

Relay Events:  Swimmers SHOULD indicate their relay availability during the individual swimmer online entry process, prior to Wednesday, APRIL 26, 2024.

Online Relay Team Entry:  Same system used at Nationals to enter relays. Coaches may register relays here on Club Assistant beginning on Saturday, April 27, at noon, and closing at 11:59 pm Tuesday, April 30th. See rule 102.9.8 regarding relay limits.  Club rosters with swimmer age, gender, and best 50-yard free times are displayed for building relays. Only one coach or relay person from each club should act as the Relay Captain and enter and pay for all of the team's relays.  Relays are paid by credit card to "MUNSTER SWIM CLUB."  Modifications can be made the day of each relay, but overall RELAY AGE ENTRY cannot change.  

Relays are $15 each. A credit card must be submitted when entering and updating relays online. The card will not be charged until the week following the conclusion of the meet. The card on file will only be charged for the number of relays entered following the entry deadline, regardless of number of updates made. Payments for all relays entered and seeded before the last meet day will be processed using the card on file. There are no refunds for relays entered incorrectly or not swum.

Seeding:  All events EXCEPT the 400 IM, 500 and 1000 Freestyle will be pre-seeded.  Swimmers entered in these events must CHECK IN to declare their intent to swim.  Swimmers who do not check in for those events by the published deadlines will be scratched from those events.  Pools are separated by gender for all individual events. Men will swim in one pool and women in the other. Relays may be swum in either pool and separated at the discretion of the Meet Host.

Check-In: POSITIVE CHECK-IN for the 1000 & 500 Freestyle and the 400 IM is REQUIRED online via SWIMPHONE.  Check-ins close according to the schedule below starting at noon on Thursday, May 2, 2024.  Last-minute scratches can be submitted to the meet referee/meet manager the morning of the event.

Timing Regulations: Official times set at this meet will be eligible for ILMSA Records, USMS Top Ten, and USMS National Records. Anyone who is attempting a national record needs to inform the Meet Director in advance so that person can be put in a pad-timed pool regardless of their seed time. 

MHS will be open to participants & spectators 30 minutes prior to warm ups.

Warm-up Procedures:  Swimmers must enter the pool FEET FIRST in a cautious and controlled matter.  No diving or backstroke starts will be allowed, except in designated sprint lanes starting at specific times each morning.  One or two lanes shall be designated as one-way sprint lanes during the pre-meet warm-up sessions in the competition pool ONLY.  Any swimmer who acts in an unsporting or unsafe manner within the swimming venue may be considered for appropriate action or penalty by the referee (rule 102.13.3.) Pull-buoys, kick boards, fins and hand paddles are not allowed in competition or warm-up pools. Outside lanes will be available for those older swimmers or swimmers with disabilities.

Scoring:  Individual Events: 11,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 / Relays: 22,18,16,14,12,10,8,6,4,2

Awards:  Individual:  Medals Places 1-6 / Ribbons 7-10    
                Relays: Ribbons 1-3

High Point Award:  One male and female for each age group.

Team Trophy:  Trophies 1st through 3rd will be awarded in each of three Team Size Categories.

Team Size Categories:  The Team Size Categories are Large, Medium & Small.  Sizes will be determined once the state meet entry is closed. A committee will review team size data with team names excluded and will agree on where the breakdown of size categories will occur for this meet.  This information will be announced to all teams and coaches by 5pm on Thursday, May 2.

Team Growth Incentive Program: Two new awards will be presented at this year’s State Meet. All ILMSA teams that had 15 or more members participate at the 2023 State Meet will be eligible. The total entries for each team this year will be compared to total entries at the 2023 State Meet. 

• For the teams with the greatest increase in total participation: 1st place: $250 / 2nd place: $100 / 3rd place: $50
• For the teams with the greatest increase in percentage participation: 1st place: $250 / 2nd place: $100 / 3rd place: $50

Awards will be provided directly to teams from ILMSA and each team will make their own determination of how to make use of their cash award. A team cannot win an award from both categories, they will receive only the award where they placed the highest.

New Swimmer Drawing:  All ILMSA registered swimmers that are competing in their first State Meet will be placed in a drawing for a free registration for next year’s USMS membership. One female and one male winner will be drawn at random for this award.

T-Shirts:  Cotton State Meet T-Shirts are available for $15 each, in both Men's and Women's cuts. Men's sizes are M-XXL and Women's sizes are S-XL. 

Hospitality information: There will be Volunteer and Official Hospitality ALL weekend. 

Concessions:  A concession stand and a swim shop will be available for swimmers and spectators and will be onsite for the duration of the meet.
