DC Water Wizards Juneteenth
Long Course Meters Relay Meet
Hosted by: DC Water Wizards Swim Team and District of Columbia Department of Parks and Aquatics Division
Sanctioned by Potomac Valley Masters Swimming for USMS, Inc. Sanction #103-S005
Location:
Takoma Aquatic Center
300 Van Buren Street NW
Washington, DC 20012
Date: Saturday, June 17, 2023
Warm-up starts at 8:30 AM
Meet starts at 9:30 AM
Facility: Takoma Aquatic Center is an indoor, 8 lane 50 meter by 25 yard competition pool. The length of the competition course is not on file with USMS. Eligibility of times achieved in this meet will be contingent upon pool length measurement and approval with USMS; if bulkheads are present, their placement must also be confirmed by measurements at the meet (USMS articles 105.1.7 and 106.2.1). The meet will be run in Long Course Meters (LCM) using 6 lanes with one warm-up/warm-down lane and a buffer lane available throughout the meet.
Timing System: Primary - Colorado Fully Automatic, Secondary - Semi Automatic Button - Tertiary - Stop Watch. In the unlikely event that a malfunction occurs, the meet will continue on schedule with the use of hand-held stopwatch times. Times from this competition will be eligible for world record, USMS record, and Top 10 consideration.
Eligibility: Open to any current 2023 USMS registered swimmers. Age on December 31, 2023 determines age group for USMS swimmers in the meet. Each swimmer will be allowed to swim up to five (5) relay events total and in only one category for each relay event.
Rules: United States Masters Swimming rules will govern. Current PV LMSC meet procedures will be enforced and take precedence over any errors or omissions on this form. The meet referee will be in charge of the meet. Any questions regarding the conduct of the meet should be directed to that person.
Entry Fees: $30.00 per swimmer surcharge, payable through online entry.
Online registration closes Wednesday, June 14, at 11:59 PM. No deck entry of swimmers is allowed.
Relays: USMS Relays (consisting of four swimmers all from the same club) may enter online through Friday, June 16, at 11:59 PM. There are no relay team entry fees. Other relays may be deck entered at the meet.
Relay Entry Deadlines: Relay cards for events 1 to 5 are due by 9:00 AM, events 6 to 10 by 9:30 AM, and events 11 to 15 by 10:00 AM.
Seeding: All events will be deck seeded slowest to fastest, by entered time, ages, and sexes.
COVID requirements: We cannot anticipate COVID conditions in advance of the event. Requirements will be in accordance with any District of Columbia directives at time of meet.
Questions: Meet Director, Luis Salazar (310-433-6178); luis.salazar@dc.gov
HOW DOES THIS MEET WORK?
- Each team (USMS club) that attends will need someone to serve as their "Relay Captain." (DC Water Wizards swimmers, Luis Salazar will serve as your Relay Captain.)
- The swimmers self-enter the meet, check boxes for the relays they're willing to swim, and pay the entry fee.
- After individual swimmer entries close, the meet directors may view the roster of athletes by clicking on "Club Entry Rosters" near the top of this page.
- The Relay Captains will review their rosters and assemble the relays for their teams.
- The Relay Captains will go through the Club Assistant entry process to submit all of their relays online. There is no charge for submitting the relays. (The Relay Captain will need to be a USMS member of that club to proceed through the USMS verification step and to view that club's entrants.)
- The swimmers show up, and HAVE FUN!
QUESTION: I want to enter relays but I don't know whether anyone else from my club is coming.
ANSWER: Before you enter the meet, you'll need to find three other swimmers from your club who are willing to commit to attending the meet, and assembling and organizing your relays.
QUESTION: What if some of my swimmers don't show up the day of the meet? Can we substitute other swimmers?
ANSWER: Yes! We will allow substitutions.
QUESTION: What are the relay age groups?
ANSWER: The age groups are determined by the sum of the ages of the four swimmers on the relay: 72-99, 100-119, 120-139, and so on in 20-year increments.
FOR RELAY CAPTAINS
FOR RELAY CAPTAINS ONLY: Below are some screenshots that show how relays are entered into the software. You can either enter a seed time for a relay, or all zeroes for "no time." In the first image, you will see the list of available athletes for the relay.
FOR RELAY CAPTAINS ONLY: The image below shows how the captain enters the relay. Leave the numbering set at "Auto." Enter a seed time (or all zeroes) and then select the four athletes, IN THE ORDER THEY WILL SWIM IN THE RELAY. When finished, click the "Update Relays" button at the bottom and then move on to the next relay.
